6.1 Creation

The SUPREME GOD is the sole creator. The following 5 factors are eternal (Anadi)

• Brahman (Paramatma/Supreme God)

• Mula Prakruthi (Achetana/Achit/Non Sentinent – without life)

Jivatma (Chetanan/Chit/Sentinent – with life ) ►
Karma (actions) associated with Jivatma
• Time

► Jivatma is associated with a body in accordance with karmas. This attachment with body restricts the
pure/divine qualities
The atmas are of 3 types
1. Nitya Suri not subjected to birth and death
2. Mukta freed from cycle of birth and death
3. Badha bound by repeated cycle of birth and death

6.2. Dissolution

• Nitya Pralaya Daily occurrence in our life span

• Naimittika Pralaya At the end of Brahma’s day; three worlds -Bhu earth),Bhuvar and Suvar lokas will be completely destroyed by intense fire and will be surrounded by water. Residents of Mahar Loka will shift to Jana Loka to escape the intense heat

• Prakrutha Pralaya At the end of Brahma’s life (100 years), the entire 14 worlds will be destroyed and merged with the Supreme

• Athyanthika Pralaya: Those who mediate on the Supreme-get rid of karmas and merge with the Lord

6.3 Tatvas of Creation

1. Mula Prikrithi (Contains all matters)
2. Mahat pure reason/Cosmic Mind
3. Ego
4-8 5 Tanmatras (Sound, Feel, Form, Taste, Smell)
9-13* 5 Bhutas (Akash, Air, Fire, Water, Earth)
14-18 5 Gyana indriyas (Skin, Tongue, Nose, Ear, Eyes)
19-23 Karma Indriyas (Feet, Hands, mouth, Excretion organs, reproductive organ)
24 Mind
25 Jivatma
26 Paramatma

5 characterstics of Bhutas

bhutas devas character senses organ
ether indra sound ear
air Vayu feel skin
fire fire form eyes
water varuna taste tongue
earth kubera smell nose

6.4 Creation – Initial Stages

•5 Bhutas ((elements) associated with Tri Gunas), 10 Indriyas (sense organs) and Mind are separate and balanced (in equal proportions). They cannot function independently or grow
•GOD wills creation. The above factors come out of HIM and interact with each other ( Panchi Karna Principle ).
•A Brahmanda (egg) appears suddenly, similar to a bubble on water, and floats on water.
•Brahma is the first creation, appearing from the navel of Vishnu, and is seated on a lotus flower.
•Brahma does severe penance to discover his creator. After attaining his goal, he starts creation through mental powers.
•Vishnu infuses prana (life) through Kala (time), Karma (destiny) and Swabhava (self Will ).

Each outer layer is 10 times bigger than the inner layer

6.5 Vedic Concept of Creation (Srishti)

Creation is of 2 types Prakritik Vaikruta

6.5.1. Prakritik Creation (creation of basic objects)

• Mula Prakriti (3 gunas are equal/balanced)
/
• Mahat (intellect) (3 gunas become unequal)

• Ego (has 3 gunas - traits)

Tamasa Guna Vaikarika Taijana Bhutadi

• Tanmatras Devas controlling Indriyas helps other 2 Gunas in creation * 5 bhutas
• mind (Samasti Tatva i.e. pure & separate)*
• Gyana, Karma Indriyas
• Devas controlling Indriyas
• Avidya (ignorance, variations of Budhi)
* Vyasti Tatva means combination of the 5 Bhutas (elements) in pure form, according to established principles, to form the actual elements.

Panchikarna principle :

Akash = 1/2 Akash + { 1/8 Vayu + 1/8 Teyu + 1/8 Appu + 1/8 Prithvi )
Tripartition of Teyu,Appu and Prithvi
Saptikarna combining 7 factors i.e. 5 Bhutas + Mahat + Ahamkara

Five variations of Budhi

1.Tamisra
2.Ardha Tamisra
3.Tama
4.Moha
5.Maha Moha

Devas associated with the Indriyas

1. Disha
2. Vayu
3. Surya (Sun God)
4. Varuna (Rain God)
5. Ashwini Kumars
6. Agni (Fire God)
7. Indira
8. Vishnu
9. Mitra
10. Prajapathi.

5.2 Vaikruta Srishti (creation of life)

Brahma assumes different states (of body and mind) to create different forms of life

Kaumara Srishti (Manasika – Mind based) Sanat Kumars, Narada, Agni, Dharma etc.
Who were deeply engrossed in GOD and not inclined to propagate race.

2.Vriksha Srishti (face + Tamoguna) creation of Plants, which takes food upwards, from roots. Plants have no Gyan (Knowledge) but only sense of Sparsha (feel). They are of 6 groups :

Vanaspati Neem
Aaushadi Wheat
Lata Creepers
Twaksar Bamboo
Aushad Melon
Dhrum Mango.

3.Trayak (Sides + Tamoguna) creation of Animals & Birds. Food travels horizontally, from Mouth to back. They have no Gyan (knowledge), but only sense of smell. They are
Predominantly Tamasic (lazy) in Nature, There are 28 types of animals & birds :
• 2 hoofed Cow, Goat, Pig, Camel
• 1 hoofed Horse, Donkey
• 5 nails Dog, Lion, Elephant
• flying Monkey
• birds Crow, Owl, Swan
4. Deva Srishti (before evening Sandhya)
Asuras Lower body + Tamo Guna
Devas Face + Satva Guna
Pitus sides of body + Satva Guna

5. Manusa Srishti (before morning Sandhya + mid body + Rajo Guna) Food travels down from mouth .
6.;) Gandharva Srishti (When hungry & angry + Tamo Guna)Yakshas, Rakshashas
Gandharvas, Apsaras
Sidhas, Charanas, Vidhyadharas
Kinnar, Kimpurashas, Aswamukhas
7. Men

8. Anugraha Srishti : 33 crore Devas, 9 Prajapatis, & 7 Rishis
(33 Devas : 12 Adithyas, 11 Rudras, 9 Vasus, 2 Aswini Kumars)

9. Shrishti through Man and Woman: Brahma split himself into two (Swayambu Manu and
Satarupa ) and created various groups of men and women though them.
(there are 84 lakh different types of living beings/births/yonis)

6.6 Evolution of Jivatma
(Law of Karma)

Law of life is law of sacrifices of jiva (form of life) from lower order to higher order.

1.Minerals unconscious of the outer world, has hard body, is subject to violent shocks in form of volcanoes, land slides, etc.

2.Plants, shrubs, trees (Vriksha): Ignorant (Avidya/Agyanam), has soft body, conscious of outer world (responds to feel, sun, air, rain, etc.), has minerals and elements as food which travels upwards from roots.

3.Animals, Insects,Birds (Trayak) has elementary senses and mental powers, searches
or hunts for food plants or other animals )and fights for survival, food travels
horizontally from mouth to back.

4.Human Beings Thinks and discriminates, explores laws of nature, grows food, food
travels downwards from mouth.
(sacrifices of 1,2 & 3 are involuntary; only man sacrifices voluntarily his wealth etc.)

6.7 Evolution of Human Body
organs devas responsible

• Mouth Agni (Fire), Vapi
• 7 Dathus Chandran (Moon)
• Jihva (Tongue) Varunan (Water)
•Nose & Pranas Vayu (Air)
•Gyan Indriyas Aswini Kumars
,

6.8 Universe

God creates and sustains several universe (Brahmandas). Our earth and solar system is one such universe. Each layer is 10 times bigger than the previous layer (eg. Jal is 10 times Prithvi; Agni is 10 times Jal and so on ). The whole reside in 10 Angul (finger) measure of the Supreme.

Following illustrates the layers :

Earth) centre of system

Water

Fire

Air

Akash (Ether)

Ahamkara

Mahat

(basic matter) outermost layer of system
(Each layer is surrounded by a wall of 1 crore yojana width )

Prithvi (Earth) consists of 7 layers above and 7 layers below (Patala Lokas)

7 Satya loka Brahma
6 Tapa loka Devas
5 Jana loka Rishis
4 Mahar loka Brigu
3 Suvar loka Sapta rishi

Navagraha

2 huvar loka Sidhas
1 Bhu loka Devas/human/animals
1 to 3 are destroyed in both Naimittika & Prakrittika pralayas (Krutagam). 4 to 7 are destroyed only in Prakrittika pralaya (Akrutagam).

Athalam (Asuras)

Vithalam

Nithalam

Kabastimath

Mahatalam

Sutalam

Patalam (Nagas)

Each loka is 10,000 yojana wide and is sepearated from the other by 9,000 yojana gap.

6.9 Bhulok (50-crore Yojana wide)

An egg (Andam) containing 7 islands (Dweepams) divided into parts (Varsham) and
7 oceans (Avaranams).

They are spherical with Jambu Dweepam as the centre.

Yojana (width)
Varsham (parts)
Dweepam fly;

5 Curd Devas,Asuras,Yakshas
6 Sagara transit (Bhu – Swarga)
6 Sagara Milk transit (Bhu – Swarga)
7 Pushkara (outer) Water ransit (Bhu – Swarga)

6.10 Jambu Dweepam

Residing place for life (human beings, animals and plants). It is sub-divided into 9 parts (Varsham) with Mount Meru as the centre

1. Kuru (Matsya Avatar)
2. Hirnamayam
3. Ilavrutham
4. Ramyakam
5. MOUNT MERU
6. Bhadrachava
(Varaha avatar Hyagriva Avatar)

7. Bharata Varsham (Koorma Avatar)
8. Kimpurusham
9. Harivarshanam

Rulers

1. Kuru Sweta Ramyan Ilavratan Gandhamanan Bhadrachavan Nabhi Hemakutan

6.11 Bharatha Varsha

Bharata Varsha is divided into 9 parts (Kandam)

3. Tamrabharnam
4. Kabhastiman
5. Nagadweepam
6. Sowmyadweepam
7. Gandharvam
8. Varunam
9. Bharatam

Even Devas descend to Bharata Varsha to perform religious rituals to the Supreme

Thus in sankalpa we refer to Jambu Dweepam (Eurasia)
Bharata Varsham (South East Asia)
Bharat Kandam (India)
south of Mount Meru
